Research Topic

“Developing and Applying Tools for Data Collection in Electron Cryomicroscopy”

Research Description

We are developing technology to help facilitate electron cryomicroscopy at subnanometer resolution called JAMES (JEOL Automated Microscopy Expert System). We have formed a close partnership with JEOL to produce a commercial quality software for electron cryomicroscopy.

We have begun to use this software to answer specific questions about several biological systems. These systems include a prototypical reovirus, Cytoplasmic Polyhedrosis Virus and a eukaryotic group II Chaperonin, TCP-1 Ring Complex.
